Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes has a Gold Plated Blackberry

Some people spend their extra money on CD's or Shoes. This World renowned Producer Pharrell Williams spends his BBC money on Gold Plating his Phones. I have never seen this before but it looks like I may try to pass Aluminum foil as platinum.... : )

Lebron James of Gold Medal USA Men's Basketball Team is a blackberry user

Lebron is using his Curve over seas. Living in the Washington, DC area Verizon has the best service because you can use the phone on the train while underground, but in China you need to have a GSM phone. So that means that you get Cingular or Tmobile and pay the extra for the international plan or you have an unlocked phone. As you all know you can get an unlocked phone for your overseas travels at Blackberrytek.com and use the native GSM SIM card where ever you are in the world. Like the USA Men's team did this year....Step Your Game Up!

The Jay-Z Curve....white shell Curve...its sick

I'm still trying to figure out what kind of phone this brother is using. I have been searching high and low for this cover or whatever it is he has placed on his phone. I'm sick with disgust that I can't find it. I'm still looking however. If anyone knows where to get it from let me know so I can step my 8330 Curve game up.

Well ladies and gents I have been away for a couple of days to see who would be coming past the virtual site and checking out the blog, and to my surprise I have had a few responses. The first actually came from a friend of mine out of state who told me that he was browsing the net for informatoin about Blackberry's and my blog came up. I found it funny but I guess that was my reminder to post the photos that I have been taking with my phone. Check out what I see in my travels. The real world edition is back at it again....

How to benefit from an unlocked phone

Many people have phone plans, data plans and Test messaging plans. I have researched and found that on EBay there are sellers who sell SIM cards that are already activated. Yes that’s right you can get a Tmobile SIM card with minutes and a text messaging plan. I took the liberty to test this out and give my customers a review.

I purchased one of these “blown out” SIM cards from an EBay seller and he gave me the break down on how the SIM card works. Here are the specifics:

Tmobile SIM Card Specs:

SIM Card has a massive amount of minutes. The SIM I purchased was a 5000 minute card and worked perfectly. I used the phone to call many of my out of town family members and actually as of recent gave it to a friend of mine to use while he was in town looking for a job since he didn’t have a telephone number or cellular phone for employers to contact.
UNLIMITED Text messaging: Even though the phone number is an alias number that no one will know is yours immediately but if you put your signature or name at the end of the SMS message everyone would know it was you. The text worked great!
UNLIMITED BLACKBERRY DATA: The unlimited Blackberry data worked as well but since I didn’t have an email address that was not already in use on a cell phone BIS account I couldn’t test it but the internet worked on a Blackberry 6230 even though it was slower than my 8300 Blackberry that I have a plan with Verizon for.
Negatives:

The SIM card has a phone number that is only good for 30 days. The phone number therefore you cannot keep. Once the 30 days is up the SIM card needs to be replaced, so you will be getting a new phone number every month but your bill will only be the price of the SIM card. I payed $60 dollar for a SIM with 5000 minutes, unlimited text and Blackberry Data. That’s much cheaper than the $150 Verizon bill I pay now. If I didn’t have the Verizon account I would purchase a Blackberry 8300 and use these SIM cards every month and accept the inconvenience of having a new number every month.

In my book this is a great product and if you have the opportunity to try it you should. I have a photo of the product here and if you have any questions please email me and we can discuss or check out this same article in my blog.

The Real World: Blackberry Edition Part II

I was at work and showing off the blog and some of the folks around the office were interested in getting in the mix. I work in the city so the dress is kind of casual but the common factor in all of the photos is that they are using their Blackberry devices...naturally. : )

This young lady really doesnt like to be filmed but I had to catch her with her hair down so that her identity could be hidden and the staulkers and perverts would not become an issue. After taking the picture she turned and asked me, "did you just take a photo of me?" I had to follow that one up with a display of the blog and she signed off on the release....I just love the Verizon 8330 and I guess she does as well because thats what she is using...

I was putting in some work today on a system that needed to be reimaged. Yes I am a computer technician by trade. The gent here was patiently waiting for me to complete the reimage process of his laptop so that he could get back to working hard a speach he was in the process of preparing. The art of written word is not dead because I watched him write a 15 minute speach on his 8310 Blackberry Curve.

I left the job and rode the my bike to the barbership and had to get a photo of my barber and his 8700. I recently set up the email on his phone so now my passion with Blackberry has infected the barber shop. I wonder how many from the shop will become fans like Big D and I? While at the shop a young lady who didnt want her face in the photo came through with the Curve a blue protective case. I was a tad confused why she agreed to this photo but not one of her face. Go figure.
I noticed today that people carry there phones in different ways. This here is the Backberry. Haha! You can only carry the 7290 this way. The other phones dont fit compfortably in this position. I found another person carrying their phone via clip and this is I think a Pearl. We all know that Blackberrytek is ANTI Pearl, RIM's Camera Primero. Booooooooooo! Thats all I have to say about that. Actually this is the lady at the Post Office. Yaaaaaaay!

Lets make this thing interactive: The Review

Aight I have downloaded the iTookThisOnMyPhone package on my phone tonight and I wanted to give a quick review of the software. It was an easy download and the icon that is used from the Blackberry menu is pretty cool. I think that the best part of the software is that you have an option to delete the photo from the phone once you send it to the online Photo Album.

I can place the link to my album as a link or as a basic URL (http://www.itookthisonmyphone.com/blackberrytek) anyware on the net and could leave it as an email signature as well. I would recommend this software to anyone who takes photos on the phone and who does not have a MiniSD memory chip or who listens to lots of music and their Memory chip is reaching or at compacity.
This is a great addition to the Blackberry software collection and a great download!

Tips and Tricks

If you’re just dying to know some techie details about your BlackBerry, the “Help Me!” screen will be right up your alley. To view the “Help Me!” screen, press ALT, Shift and “H” simultaneously. This displays data that won’t matter much to the average person, such as the device’s vendor ID, platform and free file space. But it also shows the exact percentage of remaining battery power on the BlackBerry, which could be helpful if you aren’t sure how to interpret the imprecise battery indicator bars at the top of the home screen.

Another way to geek up your BlackBerry is to change its signal strength indicator from bars to numbers that tell how many decibels per milliwatt the device is transmitting. To do this, go to the Home screen and hold down the ALT button while typing “NMLL.” My BlackBerry displayed a minus 75 when I made this change. Strengths of minus 50 to minus 90 are said to be good, while anything higher, like minus 100, isn’t. Though this numerical indicator won’t likely be of any practical use, you could use it to turn to a friend and compare reception during an excruciatingly boring meeting.

One way to impress a technophile on a date is by pulling up a BlackBerry’s Event Log. To do this, go to the Home screen and hold down ALT while typing “LGLG.” This retrieves a long list of numerous confusing codes representing the functions that were performed on your device. The Menu screen in the Event Log gives users the option to clear this log, freeing up some BlackBerry memory, while an Options screen lets people set the log up to record only certain kinds of activities.

The Real World: Blackberry Edition

Like I mentioned in my early post to the blog I wanted people to try out the new Blackberry Softare that would take the photos directly from your phone and post them on the internet. I also wanted people to place the photos that they take of movers and shakers in their areas using their Blackberry's in their everyday lives. I took the liberty to take a few photos and post them here...check out my view of Washington DC...

I saw this young lady in the hallway at the job and I think she saw me try to get the first shot and tried to duck out on me but when she saw some others actually allowing me to snap their photos she warmed up a little to the Blackberry Lense... : )

I spotted this cat in the same hall posted up and drinking a iced coffee checking out the sites with his Blackberry Curve in his hand. I dont think that I caught him off guard. This shot was almost too perfect. But I see him oftern and he is alright kid, he is a co-worker of mine. He is actually an avid bike rider. Through out interaction I started riding myself. He is Russian connection to a life on the go.

At work today I we went to lunch at this cool little Italian Shop in Northern Virginia. On the way back everyone was checking their devices while enjoying the feeling of our hunger being subdued and the smooth ride of our Boss' Audi A6 on George Washington Parkway...I snapped a quick shot of my Co-worker and he took one of me which he hasn't sent me yet. But when he does I will post it here along side his car shot...Blackberry is on the move.

On my way home there is a stretch where there are bars and then there is a stretch where I venture into a residential area. I knew I would see some Crackberry Addicts on the route back home. Here is what I saw in chronological order....

It was hotter than an African Desert or a French Torture Chamber outside today and this guy just wore the "its hot as heII" out here look on his face. I couldn't resist doubling back and snapping this one in his face. It was so hot he couldnt even do anything about it. I just clicked the photo and peddled out of there.

-I spotted a buddy of mine waiting to go to a softball game and was in the mood from my earlier encounter and inspired by the blogg so I just pushed and clicked and kept on peddling.

Then there was the guy at The Lounge just gazing into the illuminated screen of his 8830. He must have been checking his bank account and realized that he was in the red. : ) yikes....that cant be good...but thats what it looks like as my bike rides past anyway....and I kept on pushing...

Pulling into the Cosi on Penn. Ave I spotted a gent sitting outside of Good Stuff crushing a fresh turkey burger from the newest edition to the lunch choices for those who work on Capitol Hill.

I saw this last chap while cruising through the residential neighborhood and couldn't resist putting him on blast. I think he was getting the baby supply list he had to pick up from the local drug store.

The Blackberry Downgrade....the 8310...camera primero!!!

I hear that Ashley Tisdale had a 8830 and went to the 8310 for the camera....I guess the truncated keyboard and the ability to take photos on the fly are a winner in the chase for the perfect accessory. I would use a 7230 before I use a pearl. I refuse to capitalize the phones name because of its keyboard alone. Full QWERTY keyboard users STAND UP!

How To Get The Best Productivity From Your PDA Phone

Wouldn't you like to start your own business? Maybe go back to school and finish that degree you never had the chance to complete? The budding professional needs a device that will maintain their contacts, calendar items, tasks and email. Not to mention the mass amount of telephone calls and text messages. All these items are addressed in one phone - The Blackberry, and I am the Blackberrytek.

There are many types of handheld devices and I have tried a few. I am stuck on the RIM Operating System and the simplicity in which it makes some task that take up so much of our time sitting at desks. Now its possible to perform many of the administrative duties on your feet or in your car that you had to do before at a desk or in a remote location with a laptop. Never again will you have the excuse that you cannot respond to that email or that you didnt see that invoice...

I have seen on television that many of the stars use Blackberry's. Even the infamous Sean "P. Diddy" Combs has all of his staff connected through the Blackberry device and if you are not powered up and accessible at all times its a major problem. The Blackberry device is a useful tool for all those who consider themselves tru networkers. Emails can be sent in a matter of minutes and contacts can be saved in seconds. Even if you wanted to communicate without email you can contact someone confidentially using a PIN Message.

Got any experience with using the blackberry to organize your daily living or business. Lets talk about it....
